Hi, friends,
Now nine months into its first year, Nurture is still going strong. The journal has settled into a biweekly rhythm, and despite pandemic disruptions and a recent evacuation interruption, the site has featured more than 40 stories and poems in its short little life.
I’ve been touched by letters from writers and readers—kindred spirits who celebrate the space Nurture has created, one where work about care and caregiving is never treated as niche, as often happens in literary circles. Through Nurture, I hope to show that this theme is multidimensional and contains a spectrum of perspectives, with a range of tones evoked by writers who make different craft choices, as you’ll see in the below links to work recently featured in the journal.
Most of the work that’s appeared in Nurture has been unsolicited, and I continue to be astounded by the work that has come in over the transom. While the journal has been closed to submissions for the past two months and will remain so until October 1st, subscribers to this newsletter may submit work before the reading period officially begins.
Thank you for being a part of the Nurture community.
Yours,
Colleen Rothman
